Society, Space, Psychosocial Health (SSPH)

SSPH is an interdisciplinary research group that focuses on the relationship between social conditions, physical environments, and psychosocial/mental health in the population.

a group of people sitting and walking around a park

Our research focuses on living conditions and human rights. Some of the main areas of the group's research are:

  • How socioeconomic factors and community structures affect people's mental health and well-being
  • The significance of places, architecture, and physical environments for mental health
  • How laws, policies, and practices uphold or limit people's rights related to the CRPD (Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities)
  • Developing and evaluating the capability approach within health and social services

We also study recovery processes for people with psychosocial challenges, as well as relevant services. Both qualitative and quantitative methods are used in the group's projects.
