Sosial simulering

Målet til MODRN-prosjektet er å utføre nyskapende datasimuleringer av religiøs og sosial konflikt i Norge. Prosjektet bruker modelleringssystemer som gjør det mulig å utføre virtuelle sosiale eksperimenter ved å integrere empirisk bekreftede teorier fra vitenskapelige studier av religion (og sekularisering) innen komplekse "kausale arkitekturer". Simuleringene vil bli kalibrert med store norske databaser i dialog med nasjonale og internasjonale eksperter innen datamodellering, religiøs og sekulær diversifisering, og norsk offentlig politikk.

Prosjektet Modeling Religion in Norway (MODRN)

MODRN-prosjektet, finansiert av Forskningsrådet, var et treårig prosjekt som varte fra 1. juli 2016 til 30. juni 2019. Våre partnere var Center for Mind and Culture i Boston og Virginia Modeling, Simulation and Analysis Center (VMASC) i Suffolk, Virginia. Vi utviklet flere beregningsmodeller og sosiale simuleringer av dynamikken som former politikkrelevante problemstillinger knyttet til religionens og sekulariseringens rolle i dagens samfunn (se eksempel på publikasjoner nedenfor).

MODRN-prosjektet brukte avanserte strategier innen datamodellering for å forstå sammenhengen mellom mikro- og makronivåer av sosial endring. Vi klarte å legge til rette for mer presis analyse av de komplekse sosiale systemene som former religiøs konflikt og sekularisering.
