Information and Communication Technologies for Development (ICT4D)

The research group focuses on examining the role digital technologies play in human development, including its economic, social, cultural and political dimensions.

The ICT4D research group aims to:

  • Produce scholarly work that shows the relevance of digital technologies in alleviating development issues in the Global South as well as in the Global North
  • Develop strong relationships with other academic institutions interested in studying the interplay between digital technologies and human development
  • Partner with government agencies, business organisations and non-governmental organisations to develop ICT4D initiatives
  • Exchange and disseminate ICT4D research
  • Support academics and mentor master’s and PhD students working on ICT4D-related topics
  • Develop proposals for funding ICT4D research projects
  • Provide an intellectually stimulating platform to its members and stakeholders
