HR Strategy for Researchers (HRS4R)

UiA endorsed the European Commission's recommendation on the European Charter for Researchers and Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers in 2011 and was subsequently awarded the "HR Excellence in Research" status. This status indicates that the university complies with the principles of the "European Charter & Code for Researchers" and has committed to meeting the personnel and organizational requirements to enhance research quality. The European Charter & Code is a set of principles and requirements that specify the roles, responsibilities, and rights of researchers, employers, and funding sources.

Human resources for researchers (HRS4R) at UiA

UiA is committed to ensuring transparent recruitment processes and equal treatment of all applicants.

Our aim is to create fair conditions for researchers and to contribute to the advancement of the European Research Area.

UiA's practices comply with Norwegian legislation and the 40 principles outlined in the Charter & Code, as well as the four areas covered by the HRS4R:

  • ethical and professional conditions,
  • recruitment and selection,
  • working conditions, and
  • research and career development

Internal Review for Renewal Assessment: revised Action plan

Each action point outlined in the action plan (pdf) is linked to action plans at the institutional and faculty levels, with corresponding responsible parties.

The action plan will initiate essential internal processes to reach the targets for the action points within their estimated deadlines. Annual quality reporting will follow up on the action points.

It's important to note that these actions will be an ongoing process, and quality development should be continuous.

The UiA Action Plan remains the key document used to evaluate and implement actions in all necessary strategic plans, to become a daily practice at UiA.

UiA's HRS4R Implementation Team

The "UiA HRS4R Implementation Team" is led by the Research and Innovation department and consists of members from the HR department.

A diverse group of stakeholders, including the Vice Rector, Director of Research and Innovation, HR Director, researchers, and academic staff, have contributed information and provided feedback on the reports.

The action points and principles have been effectively communicated in various forums within the institution and have been recognized by senior management as a crucial component of UiA's internationalization strategy.
