Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or equivalent, including courses in Introduction to Economics and Microeconomics or equivalent.

Innhold

Based on economic theory and analysis, this course offers the students a theoretical framework for understanding and analysing different organisational topics. In particular, the students will learn how to apply microeconomic theory, game theory, behavioral economics and econometric analysis to explore traditional general management questions and to investigate incentive problems relevant to both public and private enterprises. Furthermore, real-world examples and field-studies of actual workplaces will be integrated in the course.

Læringsutbytte

On successful completion of this course the student should be able to

  • demonstrate knowledge of how different behavioral mechanisms affect motivation at the workplace

  • use economic theory to analyse and discuss various incentive problems in organisations

  • use economic theory to understand organisation and management of companies

  • evaluate how organisational change and management can increase employees' motivation

  • critically assess empirical evidence

Undervisnings- og læringsformer

Lectures, student presentation seminars and group work. Estimated workload is about 200 hours.

End of course evaluation in accordance with the quality system for education, chapter 4.1.

Eksamen

A 4-hour written individual examination. Grading by letters.
