Innhold

This course provides students with adequate theoretical and practical understanding of the economics of the cultural industries. The first part focuses on demand, supply and market characteristics for the cultural sector, and discusses consequences for production and investment in cultural projects as well as why and how this sector might be regulated. In the second part of the course, the students apply this knowledge on a chosen cultural project or industry.

Læringsutbytte

On successful completion of this course, the student should:

  • understand the economic profile of the cultural sector and industries

  • have a solid understanding of the demand, supply and market for various cultural goods and services

  • have insight into why and how these markets might be regulated

  • be able to apply this knowledge on a cultural project or industry

  • be able to identify and apply relevant research literature

Vilkår for å gå opp til eksamen

One approved compulsory assignment. More information about the assignment and an overview of the work load will be presented in Canvas at the start of the semester. Attendance is mandatory.

Undervisnings- og læringsformer

The course will use lectures, seminars and group work. Estimated workload is about 200 hours.

Studentevaluering

Emneansvarlig i samråd med studenttillitsvalgt fastsetter evalueringsform og om emnene skal ha midtveis- eller sluttevaluering, jf. kvalitetssystemet kapittel 4.1. Informasjon om evalueringsform for emnet publiseres i Canvas.

Eksamen

One 5-hour individual written exam.
