Valuation and accounting: theory, models and practical applications.

Læringsutbytte

Upon successful completion of this course the student should be able to:

  • Based on internationally accepted asset pricing models estimate the required rates of return used to calculate e.g., values of assets or overall company values.

  • Compute and analyze free cash flows.

  • Analyze and apply accounting information for valuation purposes.

  • Use various valuation models to calculate e.g., values of assets or overall company values.

  • Understand how accounting procedures can affect investment choices.

  • Demonstrate how valuation models can be applied to value venture capital and other private equity.

  • Explain how risk may influence the (un)certainty of the value estimates.

  • Explain the pay-off of financial options and use simple valuation models to value the options

  • Explain sustainable stock picking strategies and understand how the United Nations’ Sustainability Development Goals may be related to portfolio choices.

Lectures (and possibility for group work). Estimated workload is about 200 hours.
