Forkunnskapskrav
The course requires the student to follow MAS509 and MAS511.
Innhold
This project course will teach how biomechanical & biomedical instrumentation and bio-mechatronics can be applied to ground-breaking assistive technology equipment, software and systems. The specific topic for the project is related to ongoing research projects in the department or to research problems from industry partners. Examples of systems to design are: Home robots, cooperating and assistive robots, Rehabilitation robot, Training robot, Diagnostic equipment, brain-computer interface technology, Muscle computer interface technology, Exoskeleton, Neurological rehabilitation, Irregularity detection. In addition to the project work, lectures will be given in selected topics related to assistive and healthcare technology like machine vision, image processing machine learning and ROS.
The main part of the project will be in the form of project work, carried out in a group. A detailed project definition with clear research goals, common for all the groups, will be given at the start of the course.
Læringsutbytte
On successful completion of the course, the student should be able to:
- take on and complete a research project in the field of healthcare and assistive technologies
- use engineering methods and problem-solving skills towards the design of assistive and healthcare equipment
- understand living systems and how to design new technologies based on human anatomy, physiology and biomedical instrumentations
- plan and execute a project and present it orally
- write a scientific report in English
