Innhold

Enterprise Systems (ES) are widely implemented in both small and large organizations. Implementing enterprise systems imply social and technical challenges, and it is a complex organizational process. Research studies have identified certain technical and organizational challenges in different phases of these systems¿ life cycle ranging from the ES selection to post implementation and adoption. It is important for researchers to understand the different approaches to studying organizations that implement enterprise systems of various types.

The first and second day will focus on various research traditions in enterprise systems research.

The third day will be devoted to presentation and discussion of the students¿ term paper proposals.

 

The objective of this course is to introduce the students to the research streams and practical challenges related to research on enterprise systems (ES). The course gives an overview of the contemporary landscape of ES research, research traditions and emerging research challenges, trends and issues of ES.

The course will be offered in collaboration with the Centre for Enterprise Systems at University of Agder

On successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:

  • discuss the various traditions in enterprise systems research

  • identify research opportunities related to enterprise systems

  • be able to select appropriate research methods

  • conduct research on enterprises systems in organizations

Studentevaluering

Ph.d.-programleder i samråd med studenttillitsvalgt fastsetter evalueringsform og om emnene skal ha midtveis- eller sluttevaluering, jf. kvalitetssystemet kapittel 4.1. Informasjon om evalueringsform for emnet publiseres i Canvas.

Eksamen

The course is 2.5 ECTS points. To obtain credits students are required to write a term paper on selected topics covered in the course. The term paper, due approximately one month after the course, will be graded as pass or fail, where pass is equivalent to a grade B or better.
