Michaela Trippl er Professor II ved Handelshøyskolen ved Universitetet i Agder.

Hun er også Ordinær Professor i økonomisk geografi ved Universitetet i Wien (Østerrike). Trippl har en doktorgrad fra Handelshøyskolen ved Universitetet i Wien.

Trippls forskning og undervisning har vært dedikert til økonomisk geografi og innovasjonsstudier. Hun har spesielt fokus på innovasjonens geografi, regionale innovasjonssystemer og -politikk, langsiktig regional industriell omstrukturering, samt arbeidsmobilitet og regional utvikling.

Trippl har vært medforfatter av flere bøker og har bidratt med et stort antall bokkapitler innenfor hennes ekspertiseområder. Hun har også publisert artikler i ulike vitenskapelige tidsskrifter, som Economic Geography, Regional Studies, Environment and Planning A, Progress in Human Geography, Cambridge Journals of Regions, Economy and Society og Research Policy.

Trippl blir ofte invitert som hovedtaler ved internasjonale konferanser over hele Europa.

Hun har tidligere vært Førsteamanuensis ved Institutt for regional utvikling og miljø ved Handelshøyskolen ved Universitetet i Wien, og Førsteamanuensis ved Lunds Universitet (Sverige).
