Ansvarsområde

Jørn Schau er dosent, leder for fagområde fløyte og studieprogramleder ved Institutt for klassisk musikk og musikkpedagogikk. Han har også hatt stilling som Professor II ved Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music i Poznan, Polen, og undervisningsstillinger ved Universitetet i Tromsø- Musikkonservatoriet og Universitetet i Trondheim (NTNU).

Schau har spilt med de fleste norske symfoniorkestre, deriblant Kristiansand Symfoniorkester fram til 2011.  Som fløytist og mesterklasseholder har Schau besøkt Sverige, Danmark, Finland, England, Polen, Ungarn, Tyskland, Albania, Tyrkia, Estland, Russland, Frankrike, Portugal og USA. Han holder jevnlig kurser for blant annet Patrick Gallois Flute Studios i Polen, og Deutsche Gesellschaft für Flöte, Tyskland, og har utstrakt erfaring fra juryarbeid i internasjonale konkurranser: The French National Flute Competition i Nice, Frankrike 2010; Second International Flute Competition I Izmir, Tyrkia 2012; European Flute Ensemble Competition i Freiburg, Tyskland 2013; International Flute Ensemble Competition i Monaco 2014; Maxence Larrieu International Flute Competition, Frankrike (the European Prize) I 2015 og 2019; the Gnessin International Flute Competition I Moskva, Russland og 1st International E. Towarnicki Flute Competition i Polen, 2020.

Fløyter i samspill og arbeid med fløyteensembler har de senere år vært sentrale overbygninger for Schau`s FoU innen kategorien kunstnerisk utviklingsarbeid – og har ledet til presentasjoner og workshops i Europa og USA og tett samarbeid med komponister for utvidelse av ensemblerepertoaret. Som kunstnerisk leder for det Det Norske Fløyteensemble (siden 2008) og European Flute Ensemble (siden 2016); dirigent for DGfF Flötenorchester, Tyskland (2016-2017) og Flute Ensemble of Lodz, Polen (2017 og 2019) – har han stått for en rekke konserter, uroppføringer og innspillinger. Diskografien inneholder verkdedikasjoner av blant andre Krystoff Grzeszczak, Trygve Madsen, Agnieszka Zdrojek-Suchodolska, Hans Magne Græsvold, Konrad Øhrn, Aleksander Brych og Terje Mathisen – foruten verker av Bach, Händel og Vivaldi, renessanse-transkripsjoner, norsk folkemusikk og innspillinger av originale standardverker. Schau har hatt et kunstnerisk samarbeid med fløytisten professor dr. Ewa Murawska ved Ignacy Ian Music Academy, Poznan, Polen siden 2010. Han var initiativtager til opprettelsen av Norsk Fløyteforum i 2008, og kunstnerisk leder for Den Norske Fløytefestival 2011-2015. I 2014 var han blant grunnleggerne av European Flute Council – et konsortium for utvikling av paneuropeiske prosjekter innen fløytespill. Schau har mottatt Universitetet i Agders utdanningspris og er Sankyo Artist – Sankyo International, Tokyo, Japan.
