Beate Strøm Johansen has released a new article, this time about smooth snakes attempting to eat both adders and grass snakes!

Smooth snake, Coronella austriaca, is one of the three snake species found in Norway. It is known that the snake feeds on slow worms, shrews, mice, and lizards.

Now, sensational photos have been taken of the smooth snake consuming both grass snakes and fully grown adders!

Beate Strøm Johansen has recently published the article "Attempted predation by Coronella austriaca on grass snakes Natrix natrix and an adult northern viper Vipera berus in Norway" in "The Herpetological Bulletin 169, 2024: 27-29".
