Zoologist Roar Solheim has won the Champion of Owls Award 2024. This week, he received the award from Karla Bloem, director of the International Owl Center in Houston, Minnesota.
This award has been given to owl researchers since 2006. Roar Solheim expresses his honor in receiving the award, joining the ranks of previous distinguished owl researchers such as the former award winnert Robert Nero, Pertti Saurola, Norman Smith, and Jim Duncan.
The award is physically represented with a special statue. The statue is handmade by David Johnson and mimics "magical owl masks" previously used by Native Americans in spiritual ceremonies.
