Ljosland Alpine Garden

Ljosland Alpine Garden is located in Ljosland, Åseral, approximately 104 km northwest of Kristiansand, at an elevation of 530 meters above sea level. Here, wild Norwegian mountain plants are presented, along with a bed of old farm garden perennials.

The alpine garden is always open, easily accessible for wheelchair users, and admission is free.

About the Alpine Garden

Ljosland Alpine Garden is located in Åseral municipality. The garden is situated in a semicircle between the mountain lodge and the river. Throughout the area, there is a well-maintained path where the ecological plant collections are presented.

 

Plant Collections

The plants in Ljosland Alpine Garden primarily have their main distribution in the barren mountains of Agder county. However, other Norwegian alpine plants, not found in Agder, are also included, including some plants from Svalbard.

Ljosland Alpine Garden is divided into 12 different collections. Each collection represents a specific habitat. As you walk the path around Ljosland Alpine Garden, you will experience all the collections.
