The roses in this garden are mostly from before 1867. All the roses stand on their own roots and produce plenty of root shoots. The scent is often strong.
Such old heritage roses represent valuable genetic resources. They are important cultural bearers with an interesting plant history, while also providing rich aesthetic experiences.
Therefore, it is important to register and preserve a selection of old garden roses in Norway, such as white and red parsonage roses and pimpinell roses. All heritage roses bloom only once.
