Important information about the programme
Equipment needs
The Faculty of Fine Arts recommends that all students bring their own equipment where possible.
All students must bring their own computer or Mac with the necessary software used in the programme. Good quality headphones are important.
Recommended equipment
We recommend that you as a student;
- have a laptop that can run modern music software
- have headphones adapted to music production and live performance
- have one or more midi controllers
- have an external sound card
- have cables to connect your own sound card to a sound mixer

Orientation programme
Welcome programme for all new international students starting their studies at UiA.
- Time: 9 August, 10:00 - 15:00
- Location: Campus Kristiansand, B1 018
Arrival Day, Orientation Day and Welcome Weekend
Mandatory session
- Time: 11:00-12:00
- Location: Campus Kristiansand, room G1017
This is where you will meet your fellow students and lecturer/ student adviser. There is no teaching on this day, but rather an introductory session where we get to know each other and learn what to expect for the semester ahead.
Attendance is mandatory.
Opening ceremony
Welcome to the formal opening of the academic year on the lawn at Campus Kristiansand, Monday 12 August!
Buddy programme
UiA has a great buddy programme for new students! You will automatically become a member of a buddy group and will be contacted by a buddy already the weekend before semester start. This way, you know that someone will be there to greet you when you arrive at Campus Kristiansand on that day.

Barbecue party for all first-year students at the Faculty of Fine Arts! There will be hotdogs (also vegetarian), and you can meet fellow students and the other first-year students at the faculty. Location: Outside the staff canteen (next to the main entrance to Building K) Time: Wednesday 21 August at 4-6pm The event is free and all first-year students at the Faculty of Arts are most welcome!
