Semester start programme
Orientation programme
Welcome programme for all new international students starting their studies at UiA.
- Time: 9 August, 10:00 - 15:00
- Location: Campus Kristiansand, B1 018
Arrival Day, Orientation Day and Welcome Weekend
The orientation programme is relevant for international students moving to Norway for the first time, and is not mandatory for all international students.
Start-up meeting
- Time: 11:00-12:00 AM
- Where: Campus Kristiansand, H1 058
This is where you will meet your fellow students and lecturer/ student adviser. There is no teaching on this day, but rather an introductory session where we get to know each other and learn what to expect for the semester ahead.
Attendance is mandatory.

Meet your student community
Since our master's students are not assigned buddies via the Buddy Programme at UiA, you will meet representatives from the student association Systematicus as well as second-year master's students. They will welcome you and introduce you to the student community. New students will also have the opportunity to get acquainted on campus. Systematicus will also offer a variety of events where you will have a good opportunity to get to know your fellow students.
Additionally, you can participate in all open events organized by the Buddy Programme and the Student Association in Agder (SiA).

12.30: Welcome event for all faculty students
All new students at the Faculty of Social Sciences are invited to Kristiansand Kino (Kristiansand cinema), where they will be greeted by faculty students and staff with the following programme:
- Welcome speech by Dean Leif Skiftenes Flak
- "Why does the world need Social Scientists?" 4 mini sessions by staff and former students.
- How to engage as a student - and why? Presentation of students' organisations.
- Coffee and cookies

10.00 - 12.00 Introduction seminar for new students.
Room: HU 062
During this seminar, you will learn more about the programme and what to expect over the next two years. You will also be introduced to the field and receive more information about opportunities for exchange, internships and other possibilities for collaboration with companies and other relevant institutions.
Sine we will be serving a light lunch, you will receive a separate invitation as we get closer to the seminar, so you can sign up and notify us in case of dietary needs.
