Semester start programme

Orientation programme

Welcome programme for all new international students starting their studies at UiA.

  • Time: 9 August, 11:00 - 15:00
  • Location: Campus Grimstad, C2 041

Arrival Day, Orientation Day and Welcome Weekend
 

Mandatory session

  • Time: 12 August, 13:00-14:00
  • Location: Campus Grimstad A3 025

This is where you will meet your fellow students and lecturer/ student adviser. There is no teaching on this day, but rather an introductory session where we get to know each other and learn what to expect for the semester ahead.

Attendance is mandatory.

Opening ceremony

Welcome to the formal opening of the academic year at Campus Grimstad on Monday 12 August!

Buddy programme

UiA has a great buddy programme for new students! You will automatically become a member of a buddy group and will be contacted by a buddy already the weekend before semester start. This way, you know that someone will be there to greet you when you arrive at Campus Grimstad on that day.

The rest of the first week

Tuesday 13 August

Course in English for new students

Get to know the systems and software you’ll need as a student.

More information about time and location will be provided.
 

In the first week, new students gather on Tuesday for information about academic orientation week. Here, information is provided about the study and life around the study, as well as what happens during the rest of the first week. Time and place are announced on the timetable

Important information about this study programme

Compulsory HSE-course 

As a student in this program, you must complete a mandatory course in health, safety, and environment (HSE) with course code ORG001. This course consists of two parts: a digital theoretical component and a practical component on campus, which includes hands-on training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and fire drills. Successfully passing this course is essential to receive your degree certificate. 

PC and and calculator

As a student, you must provide your own PC. Office365 is available to all students via UiA. Othervise it’s no need for a smart calculator.

  • MAC is not recommended, as the vast majority of software we engineers use is Windows-based.
