2. Skype/Zoom interview

You will be invited to a Skype/Zoom interview. We will contact you to settle a day/time for your interview after the submission of your audio-visual recording.

During the interview we will ask questions about your formal musical and educational background and would like to hear about your goals and ambitions regarding your studies, as well as your previous concert experience as a soloist and ensemble musician, your general background and your experience and results from previous competitions and auditions.

We will be happy to answer any questions you might have concerning our programme, our teachers, projects and facilities here at the University of Agder.

Also we would like to discuss your preferences and ideas for your master course in-depth field choice:

UiA and its modern and up-to-date study curriculum offers a variety of focus areas for your studies to choose from. These so-called in-depth fields are tailored to your special needs and talents. Please think about choosing one of the following relating to your instrument/main area and interest:

  • Collaborative Piano
  • Creative Performance/solo performance
  • Ensemble Singing*
  • Orchestral Academy*
  • Classical Music Improvisation
  • Choir Conducting

*Applicants who choose Orchestral Academy or Ensemble Singing as an in-depth field, may be asked to submit a supplementary recording of material with special relevance. Details on this will be discussed during the Skype/Zoom interview.

If you fail to complete the interview, you cannot be considered for a study place at the University of Agder.

3. Formal requirements

To be accepted as a student you have to pass your audition and the interview. Furthermore, you need to fulfil the official formal University of Agder requirements for student enrolment. These requirements can be found here: How to apply to degree programmes
