Academic basis for admission to master's programmes

The basis for admission to all master's programmes is a bachelor's degree (the equivalent of 180 ECTS) from a recognised institution. You must have completed your degree in order to be eligible for admission. In addition, you must meet the requirement of a specific academic basis.

Applicants will not be considered unless they have the required academic basis.

Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things

Please note! This study programme is open for applicants from the EU/EEA and applicants with a renewable or permanent residence permit to Norway. It is not open for applicants outside EU/EEA. 

The admission requirement is a completed and passed three-year bachelor’s degree in engineering within the areas Computer Science, Electronics, Renewable Energy, or Mechatronics, in line with the National Curriculum Regulations for Engineering Education in Norway. Applicants with background from renewable energy, must have passed courses in basic object-oriented programming and control engineering. Applicants with background in Mechatronics must have passed courses in basic object-oriented programming and embedded computer systems.

Furthermore, the following requirements are set, which in part go beyond the minimum requirements in the national curriculum regulations:

  • At least 25 credits in relevant mathematics
  • At least 5 credits in statistics
  • At least 7.5 credits in physics

Business Administration - Analytical Finance

Please note! This study programme is open for applicants from the EU/EEA and applicants with a renewable or permanent residence permit to Norway. It is not open for applicants outside EU/EEA. 

The academic basis is a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Auditing or equivalent education that is based on Universities Norway (UHR) Disciplinary Strategic Unit for Economics and Administration’s plan for bachelor programmes in Business Administration (November, 2018). 

120 ECTS credits, of which a minimum of 20 credits at level 2 / additional level, must be within business administration subjects. The following subject areas, including subcategories, must be covered:

Business Administration - International Business

The academic basis is a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Auditing or equivalent education that is based on Universities Norway (UHR) Disciplinary Strategic Unit for Economics and Administration’s plan for bachelor programmes in Business Administration (November, 2018).

Civil and Structural Engineering

Please note! This study programme is open for applicants from the EU/EEA and applicants with a renewable or permanent residence permit to Norway. It is not open for applicants outside EU/EEA. 

The admission requirement is a completed and passed three-year bachelor's degree in engineering, within the areas civil and constructional engineering, or mechanical or marine construction, in line with the National Curriculum Regulations for Engineering Education in Norway. Furthermore, the following requirements are set, which in part go beyond the minimum requirements in the national curriculum regulations:

  • At least 25 credits in relevant mathematics
  • At least 5 credits in statistics
  • At least 7.5 credits in physics

Classical Music Performance

The admission criteria must include specialisation unit of at least 80 credits in performing music or equivalent. At least 20 credits in the specialisation unit must be level 2.

Coastal Ecology

Admission requirements are completed bachelor's degree or equivalent where either an integrated study of at least two years duration in biology/ecology or specialisation course of at least 80 credits in biology/ecology is included.

Cybersecurity Engineering

Please note! This study programme is open for applicants from the EU/EEA and applicants with a renewable or permanent residence permit to Norway. It is not open for applicants outside EU/EEA.

Admission requirements include the completion of a three-year bachelor's degree in engineering, based on the national curriculum, in the fields of data, electronics, or mechatronics. Applicants with mechatronics as the basis for admission must demonstrate proficiency in object-oriented programming. Additionally, the following requirements, which partially exceed the minimum requirements in the curriculum, apply:

  • At least 25 ECTS credits in relevant mathematics
  • At least 5 ECTS credits in statistics
  • At least 7.5 ECTS credits in physics

Cybersecurity Management

Applicants to the program must have at least a bachelor's degree or equivalent education of at least 180 ECTS credits. In addition to the bachelor's degree, the following requirements apply:

  1. Either: a specialization course of at least 80 ECTS credits in information systems (IS), information and communication technology (ICT), computer science, economics and management, or organization and leadership. Applicants with a specialization in economics and management or organization and leadership must have at least 30 ECTS credits in IS/ICT.
  2. Or: an integrated study program of at least 2 years in the same areas of study and with the same requirements as in point 1.

English

According to the admission criteria, the major must include a minimum of 80 ECST credits in English. At least 20 credits must be in language courses, and at least 20 credits must be in literature. At least 20 credits must be on the supplementary level (Level 2).

Global Development, Crisis and Change

1. Either: a major subject of at least 80 ECTS within the social sciences.

2. Or: an integrated programme of at least two years duration within social sciences. Examples of relevant fields of study: Development Studies, Planning, Geography, Sociology, Social Anthropology, Politics and Business Administration. Social science methods, at least 7,5 ECTS.

International Business

Either a major subject of minimum 80 ECTS credits, of which a minimum of 20 credits at level 2 / additional level, or an integrated programme of at least two years duration within business administration, marketing, management or equivalent.

The following subject areas must be included in a total of at least 60 ECTS credits:

  • Business Economics
  • Economics
  • Methodology
  • Marketing
  • Organisational and management subjects

All subject areas must be covered.

Mathematics

The academic basis for admission is:

Mathematics as a major subject of at least 80 ECTS credits for applicants with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

Mechatronics

Please note! This study programme is open for applicants from the EU/EEA and applicants with a renewable or permanent residence permit to Norway. It is not open for applicants outside EU/EEA. 

The admission requirement is a completed and passed three-year bachelor's degree in engineering, within the areas mechatronics, mechanical engineering, electronics and electrical engineering or renewable energy, in line with the National Curriculum Regulations for Engineering Education in Norway.

Furthermore, the following requirements are set, which in part go beyond the minimum requirements in the national curriculum regulations:

  • At least 25 credits in relevant mathematics
  • At least 5 credits in statistics
  • At least 7.5 credits in physics

Multimedia and Educational Technology

Please note! This study programme is open for applicants from the EU/EEA and applicants with a renewable or permanent residence permit to Norway. It is not open for applicants outside EU/EEA. 

  • A 3 year bachelor’s degree in Multimedia Technology and Design, or similar.
    or
  • A 3 year bachelor’s degree in engineering. The applicant must have passed courses in basic object-oriented programming and 3D-modelling or technical drawing.
    or
  • A 4-5 year teachers education and 60 credits of multimedia courses, basic object-oriented programming and 3D-modelling.

Popular Music

Performing music, World Music and Songwriting

The admission criteria must include a specialisation unit of at least 80 credits in performing music or equivalent. At least 20 credits in the specialisation unit must be level 2.

Electronic music

Specialisation unit of at least 80 credits in performing or electronic music, bachelor's degree in music technology or equivalent. At least 20 credits in the specialisation unit must be level 2. Other relevant bachelor's programmes may, after special assessment, be approved as a basis for admission.

Music business and management

The admission basis must include one of the following criteria:

  • Specialisation unit of at least 80 credits in performing music, music pedagogy or musicology. At least 20 credits in the specialisation unit must be level 2.
  • Relevant specialisation unit of at least 80 credits within the culture/music/culture studies. At least 20 credits in the specialisation unit must be level 2.
  • Bachelor's degree in economics or equivalent
  • Other relevant bachelor's programmes may, after special assessment, be approved as a basis for admission.

Renewable energy

The admission requirement is a completed and passed three-year bachelor's degree in engineering, within the areas renewable energy, electronics and electrical engineering, mechatronics or mechanical engineering, in line with the National Curriculum Regulations for Engineering Education in Norway.

Furthermore, the following requirements are set, which in part go beyond the minimum requirements in the national curriculum regulations:

  • At least 25 credits in relevant mathematics
  • At least 5 credits in statistics
  • At least 7.5 credits in physics
