Recognition of previous education

If you have foreign education or education from other higher education institutions in Norway, you may apply for recognition and credit transfer. You must be admitted as a student at UiA in order to apply.

You apply using the form for Recognition of education. Applications are processed in order of receipt. It is especially busy at the start of each semester, so make sure to send your application as early as possible.

In your application you must specify the education you want recognized and which UiA courses you want replaced.

Attachments and documentation

It is not necessary to provide documentation of previous studies at UiA. Courses from any other educational institutions must be documented with:

  • Course description
  • Compulsory reading list
  • Diploma/academic transcript (not necessary for courses found under 'External results' in Studentweb)

The applicant is responsible for collecting and attaching all necessary documentation tothe application. The application will not be processed until completed. The case officer may contact you via email if something is unclear or missing.

Results of the application

The applicant will receive a written response on whether the application is accepted or rejected. In the case of rejection, an explanation for the decision will be provided.

You may appeal the decision within three weeks of receiving the results of your application.
