Digital student ID

The Student ID app is available for students at public universities and university colleges in Norway. This app can be used as a replacement for semester cards.

The Student ID app is accepted as a valid student ID by transport service companies in Norway, among others. It is equal to the combination of a physical student ID and semester card. You may still need a physical student ID to access buildings and borrow books, depending on your institution.

For the Student ID app to be valid, you must first pay the semester fee and register your courses in Studentweb. If the app does not display a photo of you, a different kind of photo ID must be presented in addition to the app.

The app is available in Norwegian and English, and adapts to the language settings of your phone.

How to log on to the Student ID app for the first time?

  • Open the app (internet access required)
  • Choose your institution
  • Log in with your username and password (given to you by your institution)
  • Read and accept the declaration of consent (the app can only be used if you give your consent)
  • Read and approve the terms and conditions (the app can only be used if you agree to the terms and conditions)

If you have paid the semester fee and registered, this information will be displayed in a yellow box at the bottom of the page. The semester receipt is saved in the app itself. This means you can use the app without an internet connection once you have logged on and registered your payment of the semester fee.

How to order semester card when you cannot use the app

If you don't have a smartphone or are unable to use the app, you can order your semester card through Studentweb. Log in to Studentweb, and select 'Orders'. Then, choose 'Semester receipt' and click 'Order'. Your semester card will be sent to the address you specify.
