Erasmus+ Grant

Students will receive € 900 per month

The grant is adjusted based on the arrival and departure dates.  You will receive a grant until two days after your last exam. If you wish to stay on for a couple of days/weeks you will not receive grant for this period.

The Euro exchange rate is stated in the scholarship letter.  The exchange rate is constant throughout the project period.

You will also receive a travel grant. This is a fixed amount based on distance (not the price of your ticket).

The monthly grant will be transfered to a BankAxept card, and you can pay your housing at the SiA Housing office with this card.

    Visa

The Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI) is the central agency for immigration administration in Norway.

    Required documents

Please see the list of documents you must hand in (udi.no).

    • Letter of Acceptance from the University of Agder
    • Letter to UDI confirms that you are guaranteed student housing, and that you will get an Erasmus+ Grant. You will therefore not need to present a housing contract.

Visa expenses will be reimbursement upon arrival. Start your visa application process immediately after receiving your Letter of Acceptance. You will soon after receive an email form UiA on how to apply for reimbursement for your visa application fee.

Please do not use an agent for the visa process, as the grant will only cover the visa fee itself, and no service costs. This also applies if you have to travel to apply for the visa. The travel grant is a fixed amount, and will not cover the tickets to get the visa.

    Insurance

You must have adequate insurance coverage. Mandatory insurance coverage is health insurance. In addition, travel insurance is highly recommended.

Insurance expenses will be covered by an extra scholarship. You must order and pay your insurance yourself, but UiA will give you a refund upon arrival. Remember to bring the original receipt.

    BankAxcept Card

UiA will issue a BankAxept card to each student.  You will receive information about how to collect your card upon arrival. You must show your passport and sign a document to activate your card. Please bring with you sufficient means for your first days in Norway.

The first payment to your BankAxept card will include your scholarship for the first two months, as there can be some extra expenses your first weeks in Norway. The travel grant is also transferred to the BankAxept card after you have applied for reimbursement. (if you have purchased your travel). The next payment will be in October/March (for students arriving in autumn/spring respectively).

The card may be used in shops marked with "BankAxept" and to withdraw money from ATMs. It cannot be used for online payments.

Students staying two semesters must start the process to get a Norwegian bank account as soon as possible after arrival. When this is settled the Erasmus+ Grant will be transferred to your bank account instead of your BankAxept card.
