The course provides an understanding of digitalisation and digital transformation in society. It is suitable for those who want to know about the far-reaching positive and negative societal consequences of technology use at the individual, organizational, and societal levels. This includes the importance of digitization for your personal life, work life, business development, and sustainable development. You will also gain an ethical and legal insight into how technology development and societal changes are related.
Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will:

have acquired basic knowledge about the digital society, and be aware of positive as well as negative consequences, both as a private citizen and as a member of the global information society

Examination requirements
Mandatory assignments must be completed and passed. Further information is provided in Canvas at the start of the semester.
Teaching methods
The course is organized with a mixture of lectures, digital teaching activities, and group-work. The students will immerse themselves in a self-chosen and timely topic where ICT plays a central role. Organized teaching is normally given in the form of lectures and group-work. Estimated workload is 210 hours.
Evaluation
The person responsible for the course decides, in cooperation with student representative, the form of student evaluation and whether the course is to have a midway or end of course evaluation in accordance with the quality system for education, chapter 4.1.

Assessment methods and criteria
Groupwise portfolio assessment with common grade that counts 40% and a 3-hours individual written exam that counts 60% of the total grade. Individual grades A-F. There is no postponed examination in the portfolio.

TFL119 has a credit reduction towards TFL102, so it is only possible to take one of these two courses.
