Prerequisites

To progress to year 3, 60 credits in Contemporary Theatre or a similar course as well as EX-100 Exam Philosophicum and EX-102 Examen Facultatum Humanities are required.

Course contents

The BA assignment must be based on arts projects/productions undertaken in TEA201-1 Theatre Project, or on a project initiated or participated in by the student themselves

The work must result in an academic dissertation. The research question must be approved by the course tutor. The course includes an introduction to subject specific research theories and methodologies

Learning outcomes

After course completion the students must have achieved the following:

  • Be familiar with research and development work within the subject matter.

  • Be acquainted with the research and development work in the field of study.

  • Have developed an understanding of and ability to apply subject matter specific theories and methodologies of research.

  • Be able to contextualise and reflect upon artistic work.

  • Be able to research and apply relevant theories.

  • Be able to reflect on their own professional development and make use of supervision in work on theory-based assignments.

  • Be able to analyse and disuss social and aesthetic research questions as well as core subject matters in written form.

  • Be able to analyse and relate subject matter knowledge to an academic and non-academic audience.

Examination requirements

  • Approved research question for BA dissertation

  • Approved attendance at mandatory course modules and supervision

Teaching methods

Course will comprise lectures, seminars, supervision and mentoring. A minimum of 3 meeting with supervisor are mandatory.

Some classes in select subject matters are mandatory. These will be highlighted on Canvas at the start of the semester. Expected workload is 27 hours per study point.

Evaluation

The person responsible for the course, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1.
