Course contents

Designing and implementing online courses with detailed study guides or relevant alternatives with learning tasks and activities, learner focused approach with tutor support, many-to-many communication, group work, negotiation of meaning in asynchronous threaded discussions, video lectures, peer tutoring and online quizzes. Group hand-ins in addition to individual hand-ins. Estimated student workload: 200 hours.

  • Module 3: Development, implementation and evaluation of interactive learning designs 

Learning outcomes

On completion of the courses the participants will have the ability to: 

  • evaluate and select appropriate pedagogical approaches for online learning 

  • evaluate and select LMS systems based on the user’s needs 

  • analyze and assess online courses  

  • plan courses according to international requirements (ECTS) 

  • design, develop and implement own online course modules 

  • understand the most common standards for distributing online learning material 

  • establish basic student support systems 

 

The participant will improve skills in: 

  • developing courses according to the ECTS framework and quality assurance

  • organising online learning environments, with our without study guides

  • participation in professional online networks 

  • the use of authoring tools for creating and distributing online learning content 

  • peer assessment and giving appropriate feedback to peers

  • implementing their designs in practice 

  • reflecting on learning processes and improvement of learning skills

Program coordinator together with elected student representatives decide on evaluation strategies and whether the course will have midterm and/or end of term evaluation, in accordance with the quality system chapter 4.1. Information about evaluation forms is published in Canvas.

Assessment methods and criteria

Portfolio assessment counting 40 % of the total grade and a final project counting 60 %. Graded A-F. Information about the requirements for the portfolio will be given in Canvas.
