Recommended prerequisites

Admitted, ompleted and passed a minimum of 30 credits within the Master of Political Science and Management.

Course contents

Thois is an flexible elective. Students will gain insight and practical knowledge through their work experience. There is an emphasis upon understanding the place of practical training holistically. Students also have the possibility to practice their professional skills in political science and management in an employment relationship.

Learning outcomes

After completing the course, the student should:

  • be able to relate professional questions to real and current situations in practice activities

  • be able to plan, implement and collaborate on varied work tasks and projects in practice activities and reflect on the choices that are made

  • have in-depth knowledge of working life and the organization of working life

Teaching methods

In practice, the students will be given tasks that are relevant in relation to their professional competence and the needs of the practice business. There is a great deal of flexibility in terms of working hours, tasks and how you want to organize these. In addition, students must write an academic practice report (reflection note) which is recommended to be based on assignments or projects that the student works on during the semester

The individual internship and the Department of Political Science and Management collaborate on the allocation of internships. The application deadline is 15 November for the spring semester and 15 May for the autumn semester. A three-party agreement on practice is entered into between UiA, the business and the individual student.

Estimated scope of work is 270 hours.

Evaluation

The course responsible, in cooperation with the study programme manager, student representative and internships, decides the methods of evaluation.

Assessment methods and criteria

Practice/reflection report, approx. 3,000 words. The form and content must be in accordance with general standards for academic work. More information will be given through Canvas. Grade: Approved /not approved.
