Work placement builds upon knowledge acquired from previous courses in social work from the student's home country. Previous knowledge must be documented, with a minimum of 10 ECTS in social work.
Learning outcomes
Work placement (US:internship) will contribute to an increased understanding of the relationships among research, theory and practical social work. Students will acquire knowledge of, insight into and training in practical social work. In addition, students will gain insight into the Norwegian welfare scheme. Through work placement students will increase their awareness of their own values and attitudes, as well as develop their communication and collaboration skills.
Teaching methods
During work placement students must comply with the work place’s rules and regulations. Students are entitled to one (work) day of study per week during work placement. Each student is entitled to at least two hours of counselling per week. Work placement period lasts for 18 weeks during the autumn semester.
Evaluation
Course evaluation is carried out as a midterm evaluation in accordance with standard procedure in the quality assurance system, chapter 2.1.1., unless other information is given in the beginning of the semester.
Assessment methods and criteria
Pass/fail assessment. In order to pass SO-303 examination requirements and mandatory attendance must be approved. For further details, refer to the regulations for client-related work placement for international students.
