In the course, the student focus on writing string arrangements for various popular music genres. In addition, a scope at how to arrange for string ensembles within different ensembles, from quartet to a string section in a symphony orchestra. We apply different techniques and exemplify how popular music harmony can be applied ensembles with bands and strings.

Teaching methods
The tuition is given in the form of lectures and group supervision, in addition to individual feedback in Canvas on assignments. Students will use digital tools such as Sibelius and Logic Pro software in their work.
Parts of the teaching are compulsory. These parts are presented in Canvas at the beginning of the semester.
Expected work scope is 27 hours per credits.
Evaluation
The person responsible for the course, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.

Assessment methods and criteria
Individual portfolio submission with 5-7 minutes of recorded audio material with an included score. The recorded audio material may consist of several audio products. Assignment is presented at the beginning of the semester in Canvas. An overall grade is given for the portfolio.
Grade: Pass/Fail.
