The course focuses on developing creative and technical skills related to the student's Live Electronics project. This is done through exploring the possibilities of processing their own instrument and pre-composed material. The students will learn about different sound processing techniques and apply them to their own project.
The course aims to enable the student to recognize different musical developments in their own and others' performances. The course puts an emphasis on how the student can create and perform an aesthetical cohesive concert program where the student's Live Electronics project is performed. Through listening as a method, the student learns to recognize and reflect on different aesthetic choices in a concert setting.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, the student should:
- being able to apply different methods for processing their own musical material
- use various creative skills individually and in collaboration with others
- have knowledge of various sound processing methods in Live Electronics
- being able to develop, perform and verbalize their own musical ideas in real-time
- identify different musical events through listening and reflect on these aesthetically make artistic and aesthetic evaluations in relation to their own musical project
Examination requirements
- Approved attendance for mandatory teaching
- Approved individual artistic presentation of the student's Live Electronics project for the student group, lasting approximately 10-15 minutes

Teaching methods
There will be 3 seminars of 2 days each over a semester, where the teaching primarily takes place through group instruction, seminars, projects, and individual guidance. Creative work, both independently and in groups, is central, including the development of personal expression. There will be assignments between gatherings. Students can choose between physical or digital supervision between gatherings.
The course uses digital tools such as Ableton Live Suite.
Parts of the course are mandatory. These will be presented in Canvas at the beginning of the semester.
Expected workload is 27 hours per ECTS.
Evaluation
The study program manager determines-in consultation with the student representative-selected evaluation form and whether the courses should have mid- or final evaluation in line with the quality system chapter 4.1.

Assessment methods and criteria
An oral exam of about 30 minutes where the student presents their working methods, aesthetic choices, and explains their technical setup. It is also possible to include video/recorded material in the presentation. Further information is given in Canvas.
