Successful completion of all mathematics modules in the 100 and 200 series is required before starting the bachelor's thesis.
Recommended prerequisites
Successful completion of every module in the first five semesters.
Course contents
The student must familiarize himself with a mathematical topic. The topic must then be presented orally, by presenting it to other students and supervisors. The student must then use LaTeX to design the written report from the bachelor's project.
Important in the subject is learning to apply and present mathematics both orally and in writing; this includes the use of LaTeX, library and database services, proper source usage and referencing.
Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to

Use the library and electronic databases to navigate the scientific literature

Familiarise oneself with a mathematical topic connected to the study programme, as a rule a topic in industrial mathematics, and relate this topic to relevant theory of science

Present this topic orally and in writing
Examination requirements
Participation in at least 4 mandatory supervision sessions. Approved oral presentation at a designated time during the first part of the term. See Canvas for details.
Teaching methods
Seminars, oral presentation, and supervised project work, usually an internship in a partner institution or company. Normally, 6-10 supervision sessions are offered, at least 4 of which are mandatory. The module can be taught in English if needed. Estimated workload of the course is 534 hours.
Evaluation
The faculty member in charge of the module confers with the student rep which form of evaluation will be organized, and whether midterm or post hoc. Cfr the University regulations on quality assurance, chapter 4.1.

Submission of a written bachelor thesis by a designated deadline (individually or in groups of max 3 students). Graded assessment.
