Course contents

This is a language course for beginners, providing basic knowledge about Norwegian pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar (noun, adjective and verb system, word order, use of time expressions, prepositions, etc). The focus is on pronunciation and reading, listening and reading comprehension and practical use of the oral and written grammatical systems.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of the course, students should be able to

  • talk about general topics with good pronunciation

  • lead conversation on topics from everyday life and discuss topics on the basis of the acquired vocabulary

  • read and understand simple texts with topics from everyday life

  • express themselves through writing in Norwegian, without too many spelling and grammatical errors.

Examination requirements

Approved attendance at compulsory instruction (80%). 15 short digital tests (qiuzzes).

Teaching methods

Lectures and exercises. The workload is estimated to about 270 hours.

Evaluation

The person responsible for the course, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.

Assessment methods and criteria

3-hour written examination under surveillance. Graded assessment.
