Recommended prerequisites

Completed and passed at least 30 ECTS credits in the Master's Programme in Global Development and Planning. Admission to the course is through application to the Department of Global Development and Planning. Application deadline for the coming fall semester is May 15 the same year. Admission through assessment of grades and interview.

Course contents

Through the internship, the students will get insight and experience related to the operations in the internship workplace. An understanding of the whole of the workplace is emphasized and that the students are allowed to test themselves and their knowledge within planning and development in a workplace.

Learning outcomes

Upon completion of the course, the student shall:

  • Be able to relate and reflect on academic questions to real and practical situations in the workplace

  • Have knowledge about the tasks, the processes and the methods of the workplace

  • Be able to plan and complete varied tasks and projects and reflect upon the choices made

Examination requirements

The internship must be confirmed by the employer. To pass the course, the students must have less than 20% absence throughout the internship. An agreement of internship between student, UiA and workplace will be signed.

Teaching methods

The students stay at the workplace for a minimum of 6 weeks and are appointed tasks relevant for their academic competence and the needs of the workplace. The students and the workplace sign an agreement about work hours. The students must write a report related to the tasks or projects they worked with in the internship. Time must be allocated to writing this report.

Hours: 27 hours per ECTS credit (a total of 270 hours).

Assessment methods and criteria

Internship report, approx. 3 000 words, in accordance with regular standards for academic work. Graded pass/fail.
