The teaching of the course requires previous knowledge of Spanish equivalent to level 2 from upper secondary school, alternative B1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Instruction is mainly in Spanish. It is discouraged to follow the course without prior knowledge, as this will be very laborious.
Course contents
Based on the students' basic prior knowledge, the course provides a theoretical and practical introduction to central topics in Spanish grammar and phonetics. Furthermore, the focus is on applying the language structures in different contexts in order to be able to master different communication situations both in writing and orally.

Examination requirements
Approved working portfolio with compulsory activities. The activities are described in more detail in the semester plan.
Compulsory attendance requirement: 70%.
Students in the teacaher education: The practical placement must be completed and passed.
All other students: A project assignment must be approved.
Teaching methods
Lectures, seminars, workshops and group work. Student-active work methods and use of digital resources for increased learning. For students in teacher education for grades 8-13, professional supervised work experience is included. The students' active participation in practical exercises is necessary to develop good language skills, therefore participation in parts of the course is compulsory. The scope of work is estimated at 270 hours.
Evaluation
The person responsible for the course decides, in cooperation with student representative, the form of student evaluation and whether the course is to have a midway or end of course evaluation in accordance with the quality system for education, chapter 4.1.
