The admission requirements for the Executive MBA is a completed bachelor¿s degree or equivalent education consisting of at least 180 ECTS and a minimum of two years relevant work experience after the completion of the education.
Relevant work experience is herein work experience within management or work experience from other positions with independent responsibilities
Course contents
Research shows that the importance of proper focus for the key project stakeholders is crucial for a project's success. The course deals with the process of project management, organization, planning and monitoring, and provide a foundation to further develop the student into a complete project manager.
- Project based management: value chains and support processes
- Planning and progress: methods, principles, deconstruction of tasks; case generic plan for a specific business unit;
- Costs in projects: management principles, methods, safety, life cycle costs
- Quality management: total quality management, indicators and measurement, tolerance levels, quality assurance and standards, ABC analysis in a quality perspective
- Organisation of projects: different implementation models, generic project roles, responsibility, authority and coordination mechanisms
Learning outcomes
The student is to

acquire an advanced understanding of project cooperation and the importance of systematic approaches at all stages of a project

acquire enhanced insights into project processes and be able to identify and propose improvements in own company

understand the importance of setting good targets, clear priorities, rigorous planning, adequate analysis and satisfactory attention to cost, progress and quality

acquire insight into different ways that projects can be organised (both in relation to internal and external considerations) and ability to propose own models for specific projects

Two assignments must be approved
Teaching methods
Lectures and group work at three sessions, each of them two-day sessions within one semester. Netbased teaching through Canvas. Submission of two compulsory assignments between the sessions.

Litterature: Norwegian and English
Evaluation
The person responsible for the course, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.
Assessment methods and criteria
4- hour written individual school exam. The grades A-F are used (ECTS grading scale).
