Course contents
The student has already selected one of the minor subjects: ensemble singing, orchestral academy, collaborative piano, choir conducting, creative performer, Classical music improvisation.
The student will expand her/his performance competence, profile and musician’s identity in accordance to specific work traditions and situations. The student will gain knowledge about the prevailing performance traditions and the artistic practice within the professional music business and the artistic role represented by the minor subject. The student performance internships with the Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra, the Kilden Vocal Ensemble, the Kilden Opera or through artistic projects produced by the Kilden Dialogue or other partner institutions are central to the course.
The master’s project corresponds to the student’s minor subject and musician’s profile. In ensemble singing, orchestral academy and collaborative piano there will be a particular focus on musical interaction and collaboration. The teaching activities will address the minor subject’s communication forms and the student’s conception of performance and aesthetic problems and issues in relation to tradition, innovation, artistic practice, interpretation skills and practice. It is consistently emphasised that the student should develop her/his musical identity and musician’s profile.
The student will engage in internships with the Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra, the Kilden Vocal Ensemble, the Kilden Opera or in artistic projects produced by the Kilden Dialogue or other partner institutions.
In addition to performance activities, the student will have a supervisor and will produce a reflection note. Through this, the student should discourse relevant artistic problems and issues, through various perspectives, in connection to her/his minor subject.
Learning outcomes
Upon course completion, the student should:

Teaching methods
Teaching is performed as one-to-one tuition, in master classes, seminars and in groups. Internships are carried out through the Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra, the Kilden Vocal Ensemble, the Kilden Opera or through artistic projects produced by the Kilden Dialogue or other partner institutions. The student will be supported by a supervisor when working on the master project. The student can have up to 30 hours supervision.
Parts of the teaching activities are mandatory. These parts are communicated through Canvas at the beginning of the semester.
The expected workload for students is 27 hours per credit.
Digital teaching and learning activities are used when relevant.
Evaluation
In cooperation with the student representative, the person responsible for the course determines the form of student evaluation and whether the course is to have a midway or end of course evaluation (in accordance with the quality system for education, Chapter 4.1).

Assessment methods and criteria

An individual reflection note spanning 10–15 pages.

No less than 30 minutes performance examination with performed repertoire related to the student’s minor subject (repertoire is determined in collaboration with the main instrument teacher).
Assessment: passed/not passed.
