Teaching methods

Main instrument teaching is performed as one-to-one tuition, as master classes and seminars and as classes, including joint interpretation classes. The course also involves work with an accompanist as well as active participation in master classes, seminars and performance projects.

The chamber music activity is organised with scheduled hours and projects. It is emphasised that the student will gain experience working with ensemble formats central to her/his individual main instrument. In addition to scheduled hours and activities communicated through semester plans, students are asked to perform their own musical projects with fellow students and others.

Parts of the lessons are mandatory. These parts are communicated at the beginning of the semester through Canvas.

Digital tools may be used in tuition.

The expected workload for students is 27 hours per credit.

Evaluation

In cooperation with the student representative, the person responsible for the course determines the form of student evaluation and whether the course is to have a midway or end of course evaluation (in accordance with the quality system for education, Chapter 4.1).

Assessment methods and criteria

An individual performance test with no less than 30 minutes (performed repertoire set up in collaboration with the main instrument teacher).
