auditive analysis – focus on listening to and analysing smaller musical components

work with coordinating different rhythmic patterns

tonal sight reading and playing – for one voice alone and in combination with a second voice

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, students shall:

be able to apply general music theory within aural training as a discipline

be able to repeat rhythms on the student’s main instrument, both orally and written

Teaching methods
The course is conducted through group lessons. Students work in community and solve aural training exercises together. For individual training, students are given weekly homework. The homework workload is individually adapted to each student through expected and suggested assignments.
Parts of the tuition is mandatory. These will be presented in Canvas at the beginning of the semester.
Expected workload for an average student is 27 hours per credit.
Evaluation
The person responsible for the course, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1.

Assessment methods and criteria
The exam consists of two parts:

Part 1: 1.5 hour individual written exam. Value: 50%

Part 2: Individual oral exam related to the student’s instrument. Duration: 15 minutes. Value: 50%
Both must be approved to pass the exam. Further information is provided in Canvas at the beginning of the semester.
Assessment: Passed/not passed
