Course contents

Facilitating teaching of topics such as boundary processes, continuity, derivability, and derivation, integrability and integration and fundamental properties of elementary functions. Problem solving and modeling in connection with teaching R1 and R2. Argumentation and evidence. The course includes project work where the students plan and carry out teaching for fellow students at R2 level.

Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course the student is able to

  • be able to explain and prove key mathematical relationships taught in R1 and R2.

  • be able to facilitate the learning of selected topics included in R1 and R2.

  • discover and account for important results through exploration and connections between concepts in geometry and infinite processes.

  • critically apply problem solving and modeling as methods of working in the face of central mathematical relationships that are actualized in curriculum goals for R1 and R2.

  • have advanced knowledge of the place of the core elements in the work with central mathematical connections that are actualized in the curriculum goals for R1 and R2.

Examination requirements

  • Approved compulsory work requirements that appear from the overview in Canvas at the start of the semester.

  • Approved participation in teaching activities at school and in compulsory seminars, which can be seen from the overview in Canvas at the start of the semester.

  • Approved compulsory attendance.

Teaching methods

Seminar, project, group work and compulsory hand-ins. There is a requirement for a minimum of 80% compulsory attendance at the lessons. Estimated workload of the course is 267 hours.

Evaluation

The person responsible for the course decides, in cooperation with student representative, the form of student evaluation and whether the course is to have a midway or end of course evaluation in accordance with the quality system for education, chapter 4.1.

Assessment methods and criteria

Individual oral exam. Graded assessment.
