Basic knowledge on legal methods and some knowledge on contract law problems.
Course contents
The purpose of this course is to provide an introduction to general and specific contract law. Regulations relevant when entering into contracts are treated first, with emphasis on different ways of entering into contracts and also on the rules of representations. Later on, the principals of interpreting contracts, the regulations concerning breach of contract, and rejection of unreasonable contracts will be treated. Finally, there will be a discussion on specific challenges related to contracts with government administration.
Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of theis course the student should be able to:

apply the principals of contract law when interpreting contracts

discuss questions related to the law of contracts and torts.

summarize the main principals for determining a contracts validity.

know the main international developments in contract law as they might have implications for Norwegian contract law;

reflect on ethical issues within contract law in order to apply the regulations in a responsible manner.

Approved mandatory assignment. More information in Canvas at the start of the semester.
Teaching methods
Lectures and group work. This class has joint lessons with JU-404 Contract Law, including Contractual Matters in Public Sector. Estimated workload is about 200 hours.
Evaluation
The person responsible for the course, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.
