Course contents

  • Issues related to the application of law in the course of employment, such as hiring, work hours, vacation, working environment, employer's managerial prerogative and termination of employment.

  • The main rules of collective labor law - like collective agreements, industrial action and collective disputes

Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course the student should be able to:

  • describe and apply the main principles of legal methods, especially as it concerns employment law.

  • apply the laws that govern and structure an employment relationship.

  • describe and understand legal problems regarding employment from a manager's point of view in both private and public sectors.

  • describe and understand the main principles of Union law.

Examination requirements

Approved compulsory assignment.

Teaching methods

Lectures, group work and exercises. Estimated workload is about 270 hours.

The person responsible for the course, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1.
