Course contents

The course introduces the process of designing digital interaction solutions. It covers main concepts, principles, and techniques for understanding user needs, designing interfaces, and evaluating digital interaction solutions.

Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course, students will:

  • have knowledge of key design principles, processes and methods for designing digital interaction solutions

  • have knowledge of and be able to apply criteria for evaluating usability

  • be able to participate actively in analysis, design, and testing of prototypes for digital interaction solutions

  • know about relevant regulations and standards for usability and accessibility of digital interaction solutions.

  • have knowledge of issues of ethical nature related to digital interaction design

  • understand challenges and opportunities related to working in projects

  • have developed capabilities for collaboration, communication and critical assessment in design projects

Examination requirements

Approved mandatory assignments. More information in Canvas at the start of the semester.

Teaching methods

Organized teaching in the form of lectures and group work. Mandatory work consists of, among other things, project-based assignments and presentations. Expected workload is 270 hours.

Evaluation

The person responsible for the course decides, in cooperation with student representative, the form of student evaluation and whether the course is to have a midway or end of course evaluation in accordance with the quality system for education, chapter 4.1.

Assessment methods and criteria

Group-based project assignment counting 40 % of the grade, common grade. Written individual exam counting 60 % of the grade. Graded assessment A-F.
