Course contents

The course focuses on crucial factors for development, learning and performance in sports contexts. Both individual and interpersonal aspects, as well as conditions in the surroundings, will be central themes. The course deals primarily with young people in a development process, with an equal focus on participation, performance and personal development.

  • Training and development of athletic skills

  • Restitution and sports nutrition

  • Development and learning climate

  • Motivation and emotions

  • Coaching and guidance

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

The student has:

  • advanced knowledge of theories in sports science, concepts and issues related to development, learning and performance in sports

  • in-depth knowledge of individual and interpersonal relations that are important prerequisites for learning, development and achievement in sports

Skill

The student shows an ability to:

  • understand and critically evaluate theories and theoretical perspectives related to leadership, learning and skills development in sport

  • critically analyze sports environments and behaviors as a basis for learning, development and achievement

  • critically evaluate and apply research and development work relevant to learning, development and performance in sports

General competence

The student demonstrates:

  • in-depth ability to reflect ethically and to show respect for individuals

  • ability to disseminate scientific knowledge and communicate academic issues, analyzes and conclusions relevant to learning, development and achievement in sports

Attendance requirements in compulsory teaching must be met.

Working methods are seminars and group work. Parts of the teaching are compulsory.

The person responsible for the course decides, in consultation with the student representative, the method of evaluation and whether the course will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1.

Assessment methods and criteria

6 hour written individual exam. Graded assessment.
