In this course, the student learns about children and young people's motor development and learning. The student develops basic knowledge related to the implementation of play and sports activities with children and/or young people in different environments. Facilitation of physical activity and play for children with different skill levels and needs will be addressed.

Learning outcomes
On successful completion of the course, the student will

have basic knowledge of children and young people's motor development

be able to describe different theoretical perspectives on children and young people's motor development

have knowledge of variation in motor development and how to facilitate physical activity for children and young people with different needs

have knowledge of selected observation methods and motor tests

be able to carry out play and sports activities with children and/or young people in different environments

have knowledge of the Norwegian Sports Confederation's guidelines for children's sport based on children's motor development

be able to explain the importance of movement play for children's holistic development

Teaching methods
The teaching will be given in the form of lectures, group work, as well as practical teaching in play and sports activities in different environments.
Discipline students also have a compulsory practical group assignment with a final oral presentation.
For lecturer students, ten days of practical training in schools are included.
All practical training is compulsory.

Expected student workload for the course is approximately 270 hours.
Evaluation
The person responsible for the course decides, in cooperation with student representative, the form of student evaluation and whether the course is to have a midway or end of course evaluation in accordance with the quality system for education, chapter 4.1.
Assessment methods and criteria
4-hour individual written exam under supervision.
Assessment expression: Graded grade.
