Teaching language
The course will normally be taught in English.Recommended prerequisites
ELE113, Circuit Analysis and ELE114, Electronic Circuits or equivalent. Students should follow the course ENE235 Electromagnetism in parallell, or have equivalent prerequisite.
Course contents
Reactive components, basic electrical engineering concepts, three-phase circuits. Three-phase transformer. Principle, design and operation of AC electrical machines: induction machines, synchronous machines and other rotating machines. Per unit system.
Learning outcomes
On successful completion of the course, the students

are able to describe the construction and operation of transformers and common electrical machineries

are able to dimension simple systems where transformers and electrical machines are included
Examination requirements
Compulsory laboratory reports and calculation assignments must be approved in order to take the exam. An overview of compulsory assignments is given at the beginning of the semester in Canvas.
Teaching methods
Theory lectures, laboratory exercises and calculation exercises.
Up-to-date digital tools shall be used in connection with calculations and simulations.
The expected workload for the average student is 27 hours per credit.
Evaluation
The person responsible for the course decides, in cooperation with student representative, the form of student evaluation and whether the course is to have a midway or end of course evaluation in accordance with the quality system for education, chapter 4.1.”

4 hours individual written exam. Graded assessment.
