Course contents

The course provides the basis for calculating and dimensioning slack-reinforced, site-cast concrete structures according to current regulations, where Eurocode 2 is central

Learning outcomes

After completing the course the student should:

 

 - Know the dimensions criteria and material properties of reinforced concrete; including border states and tension / strain relationships.

 - Be able to design columns, beams, plates and simple foundations, including:

 - Axial force, bending moment and shear force in the breaking limit state

 - Deformations, shrinkage and creep in the usage limit state, as well as being able to carry out controls for cracking 

- Have a basic understanding of slenderness and calculation of 2nd order moments for columns.

Examination requirements

Students must pass the compulsory assignments in order to take the examination

Teaching methods

Lectures, exercises and laboratory work.

Evaluation

The person responsible for the course decides, in cooperation with student representative, the form of student evaluation and whether the course is to have a midway or end of course evaluation in accordance with the quality system for education, chapter 4.1.”

Individual 4 hours written exam. Graded assessment.
