The teaching starts at a level corresponding to level 1 at upper primary/secondary school.
Course contents
The course is well suited to refresh and strengthen knowledge about the German language and German society. It is aimed at participants who wish to acquire knowledge about language and society in German-speaking countries where Norway has important connections, for instance, as preparation for a stay abroad. The course focuses on oral communication, pronunciation, vocabulary and basic linguistic principles, as well as on culture and society.

Explain some central aspects of social conditions and the historical background of German-speaking countries, Germany in particular

One written assignment must be approved. Further information will be given on Canvas.
Teaching methods
Lectures, seminars, written assignments and oral presentations, possibly also conversation groups (“tandem”) with German-speaking students. Digital and/or interactive learning and teaching aids will be included and made available in the digital learning platform. Students are recommended to participate regularly and actively in class and to visit the digital learning platform on a regular basis.
Evaluation
The person responsible for the course, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.
