Part 1) Grammar: By the end of the course students shall

Have acquired a deeper and more detailed knowledge of the topics of German language structure than treated in TY-125 German Language 1.

Be able to analyse more complex sentence structures and apply syntactical terminology.
Part 2) Practical German (free text production and translation from Norwegian to German). By the end of the course the students shall

Have improved their practical skills in written German.

Be able to write individual texts about social conditions in German-speaking countries.

Examination requirements
For students in the master's programme for advanced teacher education, the following examination requirements apply:
The supervised professional training must be completed and approved.
For all other students: Three mandatory assignments, one in part 1) free text production and two in part 2), translation Norwegian-German, must be assessed as a Pass.
These assignments are not obligatory for students in the master's programme for secondary education teachers.
Teaching methods
Lectures, seminars, and oral exercises. Digital and/or interactive learning tools and exercises, made available in Canvas. Regular attendance and active participation in class and in Canvas are recommended.
For students attending the master's programme for secondary education teachers, supervised professional training is included (two weeks).
The workload is estimated at 405 hours.
Evaluation
The person responsible for the course, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.

Assessment methods and criteria
A 6-hour written examination under surveillence. No examination support material is allowed. Graded assessment.
