The student:

Knowledge

  • demonstrates knowledge of quality and patient safety within the levels of health care

  • demonstrates knowledge of risk factors in the health service and principles and measures to reduce patient injuries

Skills

  • is able to apply up-to-date knowledge of the health and welfare system, laws, regulations and supervisors in their service delivery

  • is able to use professional knowledge to initiate and contribute to interdisciplinary, interprofessional and cross-sectoral collaboration to ensure a coordinated, comprehensive and coherent treatment course across businesses and levels

  • is able to use relational communication and guidance skills in meeting with users, patients and relatives

  • is able to identify and assess risk factors related to individual, system and environment, as well as document and systematically follow up on this, including taking relevant measures

  • is able to apply knowledge of learning, mastery and change processes in the guidance and teaching of patients and their relatives, students and relevant staff

General competence

  • is able to plan and implement targeted measures to reduce adverse events and variation in health care

  • is able to plan and implement measures to ensure safe transfer of patients between different units and levels of health care

Teaching methods

Supervised practice studies

There is compulsory attendance (90%). The scope of work in the course is estimated to 135 hours.

Evaluation

The person responsible for the course, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.

Assessment methods and criteria

4 weeks of clinical studies that are assessed to pass / fail. Approved group work with presentation in a seminar. 90% presence is required in practice. A form for assessing practical studies is available in the student learning support system Canvas.
