Course contents

Cognitive behavioral theory is used as an approach in meeting different patient and user groups to assist the patient in desired change processes. The work is mainly based on the client´s actual motivation, and the behavior change work assumes active and constructive participation from the client.

Central to the method is to become conscious of your own thoughts and actions, and then to try out new strategies to achieve changes. An important goal is to break self-reinforcing vicious circles that maintain mental health problems. This is done by mapping difficult situations, designing activities that provide self-confidence and energy, exploration and possibly change of negative patterns of thought, stimulation of increased social contact and prevention of relapse.
